Q How are children developing?

Children's thinking becomes more co-ordinated as their language develops.
Their moral development continues with understanding concepts like right and wrong and fairness and forgiveness.
They are noticing similarities and differences between boys and girls.
They are being taught about life cycles at school, feelings and emotions and changes in families. They are also learning about what it means to be friends to each other.

Q What do they need from their parents?

To be able to explain where living things come from
To talk about different kinds of families
To help them have names for and ways to express different feelings
To talk to them about how precious their own body is
To explain to them about things its ok to do in private, but not in public
That boys and girls are different but can do lots of the same things
To answer questions about things they've seen or heard in the world around them. Some examples of children's questions and suggested answers.
